Clean Flowers

Weed control was a major fail in the 2017 growing season. The money from the CSA shares is going to finance a wheel hoe (a walk-behind cultivator) and landscape fabric where needed.

The plants will be well fed and watered. Compost, aged manure and some organic liquids are planned for 2018. We will not be using chemicals or other synthetic -cides on our cut flowers.

Bees & Butterflies

Flowers are the source of nectar and safety for pollinators like bees and butterflies. Most of the flowers planted for cut flowers are beneficial to these insects. Insecticides will not be sprayed on the flowers. Some garlic treatments and other natural remedies may be applied to deter pests like mosquitos but only if it posses no health threats to pollinators.
